Who You Are in Christ: You Are Reconciled

If you’ve accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of your life, then you are reconciled to God.

11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. (Romans 5:11)

The Bible paints a bleak picture of you before you came to Jesus Christ as Lord. You were a guilty sinner who was dead in your trespasses and sins. You were estranged from God and His enemy. You were under the wrath of God and could only expect God’s judgment.

The good news is that God loves you so much that He didn’t want you to experience His judgment and wrath. He sent His beloved Son, Jesus, to reconcile you to Himself.

18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:11)

Jesus Came to Fix Your Broken Relationship With God

God so wanted you to be with Him that He sent Jesus Christ to fix your broken relationship. What you could never do on your own God did by sending Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you.

Believing in the finished work of Jesus on the cross brings about a total transformation in your life. It changes everything. When you put your faith in Christ the following things took place.

You became a new creation. The Scriptures says you were born again from above. Your dead spirit was made alive so you could commune with God. When Christ came into your life all things became new.

You were justified. Every single sin in your life was cleansed by the blood of Jesus. You were declared righteous before God and the barrier of sin taken out of the way. You were no longer guilty before God. You could now stand before the presence of God innocent and unashamed.

You are out from under the wrath of God. You are no longer under the wrath of God. You no longer have to strive for God’s acceptance. You are accepted in Jesus.

You are no longer at enmity. You’re at peace with God. You have access to the throne room of God by the blood of Jesus. You can boldly enter His presence for help in time of need.

You have divine favor. God is for you not against you. He wants to pour out His blessings upon your life because you have been brought near. You are a joint-heir with Jesus and feely have access to all the blessings available to Him.

You are reconciled to God. The idea behind the word reconciliation is the reestablishment of a friendly relationship which was disrupted or broken. Jesus brought you back to a right relationship with God.

All Three Members of the Trinity Are at Work in Your Reconciliation

We see the incredible work of all three members of the Trinity at work in the process of reconciliation. The Father initiated the process because of His great love for you. He didn’t want to be separated from you. He wanted you to be with Him for eternity.

Jesus’ part of the process was to lay His life down so you could be saved and restored to God. His great love for you was seen so clearly in all that He suffered for you. He knew that the only way to bring you to God was through the cross and the resurrection. For the joy of your reconciliation to God he willingly endured the suffering.

The Holy Spirit played His part in your reconciliation by making you alive. You were made alive through the power of the Holy Spirit and He lives within you giving you access to the Father.

Not only are you reconciled to God, but God has given you the ministry of reconciliation. He wants you to join the Trinity and be a part of the process of reconciling others to God.

18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

God wants you to spread the Good News to everyone that they can be reconciled to God, He sent Jesus to die for every single person on the face of the earth and He wants every single person to come to repentance and be reconciled to Him.

May God richly bless you in understanding who you are in Him. May you realize that you are fully accepted in Christ. May you recognize that God is for you and wants you as His friend. May you be free to help others see God’s love for them and His offer of reconciliation through Jesus Christ.
